Our Vision
The Who We Are Project envisions a history of the United States that is true, complete, and known throughout the nation. We envision a reckoning with the nation’s history of anti-Black racism as a necessary first step towards lasting racial justice and the full realization of our democratic ideals.
Our Story
After decades as a leading criminal defense and civil rights attorney, Jeffery Robinson’s sought-after presentations on anti-Black racism in the United States were turned into the 2021 feature-length documentary, Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America.
Released to critical acclaim and high interest, the film has sparked important conversations across the country about how the past shapes the present. Jeffery Robinson has since spoken to over 150 audiences, from high school students to corporate conferences, state and local agencies, justice organizations, school administrators, and all the way to the floor of the United Nations.
The Who We Are Project is the expansion of this work to correct the narrative of our nation. Today, the organization has grown to ten staff members, with a digital magazine, podcast, docuseries, book, and educational resources that deliver the full complexity of our history and how that history shapes who we are today.
